The researchers found evidence that sugar eventually turns out to have a direct effect on the risk of developing heart disease as well as the possibility to cause a high blood pressure.
Research reported from indiatimes.com found that sugar is capable of causing increased blood pressure and lipids (blood fats or cholesterol) were both able to play an important role in eliciting cardiovascular disease.
Research conducted in Otago's Human Nutrition compared the diet of the 2 experimental groups. They compared the diet which will cause an increase in blood sugar and fat that is between those who consume sugar and those who consume non-sugar carbohydrates. As a result, this study reported that those who consume sugar and lipids have pressure rise significantly.
"The increase is also able to affect the metabolic system in a person's body is lowered. When the system is decreased metabolism, the circulation of the blood sugar becomes bad and weight gain. So that was capable of attacking heart disease," said Dr. Lisa Te Morenga, one of the researchers .
This study was also published online in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
