Indian soldiers killed in Kashmir border clash near
Srinagar , India (AFP ) - An Indian soldier was killed and two others wounded in clashes near the de facto border with Pakistan in Indian Kashmir , a defense spokesman said on Monday .
" Military patrol was attacked by mines and small arms fire by a group of unidentified armed personnel , " the defense ministry said in a statement , referring to clashes Sunday night , AFP reported .
The incident took place in Akhnoor , 350 kilometers south of the main city of Srinagar , when elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi , a prominent hardline , busy forming a new government in New Delhi .
Modi , who has stated that peace talks with Pakistan can not take place when the hardness is still going on , reaching the seat of power Friday after his party , the Bharatiya Janata Party , won with a majority of the first parliament in 30 years .
India's military declared Sunday night retaliated but the attackers fled back in the direction of a military post PAKITAN , the defense ministry said in the statement .
"The search in that area found the Pakistani -made mines and other equipment , which implies the involvement of Pakistan and terrorists from across the Line of Control , " the statement said .
More than 47,000 people - civilians , militants and security forces - were killed in the Muslim insurgency in Indian Kashmir since the late 1980s .
